LFG, LFM, LF1M: what group requests mean
Group requests use English abbreviations from the first days of WoW, in every language. LFG means you look for a group, LFM that a group looks for more players, and LF1M that it needs exactly one more. Tank, healer and DPS are the three roles; whisper and inv ask for a private message and an invite.
- LFG
- Looking For Group: you are alone and want to join a group. "LFG Deadmines - 20 Priest healer".
- LFM
- Looking For More: a group exists and needs players.
- LF1M, LF2M…
- Looking For 1 More, 2 More: the number of players missing. "LF1M healer BRD" = one healer missing for Blackrock Depths.
- Tank
- Takes the hits and keeps the monsters on them: warriors, paladins and druids on Forever.
- Healer (heal)
- Heals the group: priests, druids, shamans and paladins.
- DPS
- Damage per second: the damage dealers. Every class can do it.
- Whisper (w, /w)
- A private message: "whisper me" = send me a private message with /w Name.
- Inv
- Invite: "inv" or "inv pls" = invite me to the group.
- Sum
- Summon: a warlock's Ritual of Summoning brings a group member to them.
- WTS / WTB
- Want To Sell / Want To Buy: trade requests, for the Trade channel.

Questions about group requests
What does LFG mean in WoW?
LFG means Looking For Group: you are alone and want to join a group. A request usually gives the dungeon, your class, your role and your level, for example "LFG Deadmines - 20 Priest healer".
What do LFM and LF1M mean?
LFM means Looking For More: a group already exists and needs players. LF1M, LF2M and so on give the number of players missing, for example "LF1M healer Blackrock Depths".
Which channel should I use for group requests in WoW Forever?
The LookingForGroup channel (RechercheDeGroupe with a French client, from the beta game tables). Join it once with /join LookingForGroup, then post with a slash and its number. General and Trade only reach your zone or city.
Can I write my group request in Korean, Chinese or German?
Yes, in 16 languages. Dungeon and class names are the official ones of the game in each language where WoW exists (German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Chinese); for Ukrainian, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Turkish and Japanese, the English names players use. If your game lacks a font, the preview may show squares, but the message is sent correctly.
Why is my message cut?
The WoW chat accepts up to 255 bytes per message, and an accented letter takes two. The generator counts the bytes and cuts the message at the limit, so what you paste is what players read.
Do I need an addon to post group requests?
No: copy the message here and paste it in the chat.
