Zephras Isle walkthrough: Skyborne levels 1-12, quest route and how to leave the island

Yuki9 min read

In short

Zephras Isle is the Skyborne starting zone of WoW Forever, levels 1 to 12, open to owners of a Skyborne pack. Both factions share the first quests, from Thendal Grove to Shen'dar and Falaath, then split in Valanaar around level 9: the High Order for the Alliance, the Windshapers for the Horde. The story ends at the Shrine of Akir and Rohashi Spires around level 12 or 13, then a ship takes you to Dalaran or Mulgore.

Key points

  • Levels 1 to 12 according to Blizzard; the beta group finder lists the island at 1 to 14, and community routes finish it around level 13.
  • Access: the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher; an Invite-A-Friend code does not unlock the race or the island (Blizzard Support).
  • Route on the beta (October 2026): Thendal Grove, the caves to the south, Shen'dar, Falaath, then Valanaar, the Shrine of Akir and the Sanctum of Storms.
  • No flight path on the island in the beta files, but the ship from Valanaar takes you off at any level (Method.gg).
  • Alliance: ship to Dalaran, then a Skyborne portal to Stormwind. Horde: ship to Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore, then Orgrimmar and the Barrens.

What is Zephras Isle in WoW Forever?

Zephras Isle is the starting zone of the Skyborne, the new race of WoW Forever, for levels 1 to 12. Blizzard describes a floating island built by Highborne exiles inside Skywall, the elemental plane of air, now in crisis: "the air spirits that once protected the island have vanished, ancient structures are beginning to fail" and the Skyborne are divided. The quests pit you against the Al'Aketh, a cult of Al'Akir.

Both factions also get Walk on Air (a 10-second glide), Wind Blessed (3% Haste since Blizzard's beta notes of October 15, 2026, 1% before) and Elemental Insight (5% more damage to Elementals). Races, racials and the paid packs are in our Skyborne guide.

Who can play on Zephras Isle?

Only owners of a WoW Forever pack. Blizzard's pre-purchase article puts "access to the new Skyborne race and their Zephras Isle starting experience" in the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the cheapest one, and in every higher edition. Blizzard Support adds that an Invite-A-Friend launch code does not give the Skyborne race or Zephras Isle. On the beta, only the Epic Pack and the Collection also gave access to the test.

Which way through Zephras Isle, level by level?

Both factions play the same first chapters, according to ForeverWisp's routes updated on October 12, 2026: Thendal Grove from level 1, the standing stones and the caves to the south, Shen'dar around level 5, then the bandits and the cult village of Falaath up to level 9. The routes split in Valanaar, where the High Order or the Windshapers take over until the Shrine of Akir, around level 12.

The game files give each place of the island an exploration level, a good hint of where you should be. They match the community routes:

How does the High Order (Alliance) route end?

From level 9, Alliance Skyborne report to Valennia in the council room of Valanaar, then work for the High Order lodge. ForeverWisp's route rescues a missing scholar, reads the Overlook Standing Stones for Catching Wind, defends the eastern watchtower, unmasks a turncoat and marches on the Shrine of Akir. The finale at Rohashi Spires ends around level 13, before the ship to Dalaran.

  1. Valanaar (9-10): the High Order briefing, then The Missing Scholar and Fillion's Mission.
  2. Overlook Standing Stones (10-11): Catching Wind, six readings with the Index Esoteria, then Avenged Tenfold (ten Al'Aketh charms) and In Service of Zephras.
  3. East Pylon Watchtower (10-11): Tower Defense, Disrupting Logistics and Breaking the Breaker.
  4. Valanaar (10-11): The Turncoat, Al'Aketh Assassins, The Cult's True Plans and Desperate Times.
  5. Shrine of Akir and Sanctum of Storms (11-12): Making Our Move and The Inner Sanctum.
  6. Rohashi Spires (12-13): The Fate of Zephras, then What Comes Next and Welcome to Azeroth.

Blizzard redesigned Catching Wind and its spawns at the Overlook Standing Stones on September 24, 2026, so older videos may show another objective; wowforeverguides points out the same gap in its route of October 8.

How does the Windshaper (Horde) route end?

From level 9, Horde Skyborne go to the Windshaper lodge in Valanaar. ForeverWisp's route repairs a broken construct with three parts, follows the road north to the Shrine of Akir for A Firm Response, then joins the same eastern watchtower, turncoat and shrine chapters as the Alliance. After The Fate of Zephras, a skycutter takes the Horde to Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore, around level 13.

  1. Windshaper lodge (9-10): A Grand Adventure, then The Broken Construct and its three parts.
  2. Road to the Shrine of Akir (10-11): Blood for Blood, A Firm Response and In Service of Zephras.
  3. East Pylon Watchtower and Valanaar (10-11): Tower Defense, The Turncoat and The Cult's True Plans.
  4. Shrine of Akir and Sanctum of Storms (11-12): Making Our Move and The Inner Sanctum.
  5. The finale (12-13): The Fate of Zephras and What Comes Next, back to Ayessa at the lodge.

Blizzard fixed A Firm Response, which failed to give credit, and Wounds of Betrayal, whose druids in Nightclaw Cavern now give credit when healed, in the beta notes of September 24, 2026.

Which class quests do Skyborne get on Zephras Isle?

Every class gets an introduction quest at level 2 in Thendal, and most get a second step around level 10 in Valanaar, according to ForeverWisp's routes. Hunters start Taming the Beast there, druids The Great Ursera Spirit and shamans Call of Fire. Each faction also has a quest for its own racial, and Falling With Style has you glide with Walk on Air from the Thendal watchtower.

How do you leave Zephras Isle?

By ship from Valanaar, the town at the southern end of the island, and you can leave at any level, even 1, according to Method.gg (October 14, 2026). Alliance Skyborne sail to Dalaran and take a Skyborne-only portal to Stormwind. Horde Skyborne pass Thunder Bluff and land at Skywatcher Plateau, between Mulgore and Desolace, with no portal to Orgrimmar. The island has no flight path.

Where should Skyborne go after level 12?

Into the zones of your faction. ForeverWisp's Alliance route goes from Stormwind to Loch Modan, Westfall and Redridge, and its Horde route from Orgrimmar to the Crossroads in the Barrens and Stonetalon. In the beta group finder, Westfall, Loch Modan and Darkshore cover levels 8 to 24 for the Alliance, the Barrens 8 to 30 and Silverpine Forest 8 to 24 for the Horde.

Tips for a fast Zephras Isle

Take every quest of a village before leaving it, since the community routes group the island's errands into single trips and the island has no flight path. Put Walk on Air on your bar for Falling With Style, pick up the level 4 camping lessons, and use the group finder entry for Zephras Isle (levels 1 to 14 in the beta files) when a quest is too hard alone.

  • Camping: The Great Outdoors and the optional Camping 101 quests (Cooking, Herbalism, Mining) start around level 4; our camping guide explains campfires and objects.
  • Profession trainers: most professions have trainers in Shen'dar Village and Valanaar, according to Wowhead's beta database as reported by wowforeverguides.
