WoW Forever Legacy points: the 65 challenges and how to earn them
Yuki8 min read
In short
WoW Forever has 65 Legacy challenges in six categories, each worth 1 Legacy Point for your whole Battle.net account: 27 for leveling classes to 25, 45 and 60, 18 for tradeskills at 150, 225 and 300, 12 for PvP, 3 for dungeons, 3 for raids and 2 for adventure. At launch each character can spend up to 16 points in three perk trees: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness.
Key points
- 65 challenges, 1 Legacy Point each, shared by every character of your Battle.net account.
- Each character spends its own points, up to 16 at launch, in the Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness trees.
- A single character can earn up to 29 points; the other 36 need other classes and professions.
- Gathering professions don't count: only Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring.
- The three dungeon challenges ask for every dungeon of the 15-25, 26-45 and 46-60 brackets, including Forever's new ones.
What is the Legacy system in WoW Forever?
The Legacy system is WoW Forever's account-wide progression: you complete Legacy Challenges across the whole game, each one gives 1 Legacy Point to your Battle.net account, and every character spends points in its own perk trees. It unlocks with your first point, usually when your first character reaches level 25, and opens with the shield icon in the game menu or the Y key.
Blizzard lists three ways to earn that first point: reach level 25 with a character, reach 150 in a non-gathering primary tradeskill, or explore the entire world map. Points belong to the account, but spending is per character, so a healer and a crafter can pick different perks. The fastest is a crafting profession: on the beta, Journeyman is taught at level 10, and our first Legacy points tool orders every point from there.
How many Legacy points can you earn?
WoW Forever counts 65 Legacy points at launch, one per challenge: 27 for classes, 18 for tradeskills, 12 for PvP, 3 for dungeons, 3 for raids and 2 for adventure. One character can earn up to 29 of them: 3 from leveling, 6 from its two professions, 12 from PvP, 2 from adventure and 6 from dungeons and raids. The rest come from leveling other classes and professions.
| Category | Points | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Classes | 27 | Reach level 25, 45 and 60 with each of the 9 classes |
| Tradeskills | 18 | Reach 150, 225 and 300 in each of the 6 crafting professions |
| Player vs. Player | 12 | 5 honor ranks, exalted with 4 battleground factions, weeks 4, 7 and 10 of the Field of Honor journey |
| Dungeons | 3 | Every dungeon of the 15-25, 26-45 and 46-60 brackets |
| Raids | 3 | Onyxia, the 13 bosses of Hyjal Summit, the 8 bosses of the Barrow Deeps |
| Adventure | 2 | Explore Azeroth with one character, finish the Lord Valthalak questline |

- Rank 14: Grand Marshal or High Warlord.

What are the Adventure challenges?
The two Adventure challenges of WoW Forever are Explorer, for having a character with the Explore Azeroth achievement, which means revealing the whole map of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, and Lord Valthalak Laid to Rest, for finishing the questline that starts with An Earnest Proposition and ends with Saving the Best for Last. Each gives 1 Legacy point.
How do you spend Legacy points?
Each WoW Forever character spends Legacy points in three perk trees, up to 16 points per character at launch: Professions (skill-ups, gathering, vendor prices, cooking and fishing), Adventure (rested experience, talents unlocked early, cheaper and faster flights) and Resourcefulness (longer buffs, less durability lost, more honor and reputation). Points also unlock cosmetic Legacy Rewards.
- Professions: perks such as Working Overtime, Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Master Chef and Luremaster.
- Adventure: perks such as Well Rested, Thrill of Adventure, High Alert, Field Guide and Talented.
- Resourcefulness: perks such as Gourmand, The Quick and the Dead, Reinforce, For Great Honor and Permanence.
- Legacy Rewards at launch: a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, a Spectral Bear Cub, a Spectral Bear Tabard and the Reins of the Spectral Bear.
How does the Legacy system work in Hardcore?
Hardcore isn't available at WoW Forever's launch. When it comes, according to Blizzard, challenges completed on other rulesets won't show in Hardcore, but a challenge completed in Hardcore will count for your characters on the other rulesets. PvP challenges can't be done in Hardcore, so 12 Hardcore-specific challenges are planned for its release. The game data already has a Hardcore version of each challenge.
Do beta testers get Legacy points?
Yes, but only on the beta: Blizzard granted every WoW Forever beta tester 16 Legacy points so the system could be tested without leveling first, through a challenge named Played in the WoW: Forever Beta. Blizzard said it expected to keep that grant in place until the end of the beta, and hasn't said it carries over to launch. Plan your points from zero.
How do you track your Legacy challenges?
The game's Legacy window (Y) lists every challenge. On this site, the Legacy planner lets you tick what you have done: it counts your points out of 65, what each character can spend (16 at most at launch) and the closest points to earn next. Your progress stays in your browser, with no account.
