WoW Forever mounts: riding level, cost and every new mount
Yuki8 min read
In short
In WoW Forever you no longer buy your first mount separately: Blizzard moved its cost into riding training, and you get a mount when you learn the riding skill, as in The Burning Crusade. Riding levels and gold costs are not announced as of October 25, 2026; Icy Veins reads 40 and 60 in the beta data. There are no flying mounts. New mounts come from the Skyborne packs, Legacy, PvP rank 11 and a Forsaken Paladin quest.
Key points
- The mount comes with the riding skill: Blizzard moved the mount's cost into training, as in The Burning Crusade.
- Riding levels and gold costs are not announced by Blizzard as of October 25, 2026; developers said riding will cost more gold than before, with no free training at 40, and the prices Method.gg gives name no source.
- There are no flying mounts in WoW Forever.
- Announced new mounts: Cerulean Prideclaw (Heroic Pack), Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion (Epic Pack), Reins of the Spectral Bear (Legacy), PvP rank 11 mounts and the Forsaken Paladin epic mount.
- The beta files hold more, such as the Skyborne Galestriders, the Swift Hyjal Stag, Devilsaurs and Warden Sabers, but none of them is announced.
How does riding work in WoW Forever?
WoW Forever uses the Burning Crusade model: Blizzard is "shifting the up-front mount cost into training and granting a mount when players learn the riding skill". You no longer learn the skill and then buy a mount from a vendor: training gives you both. WoW Forever has no flying mounts, so every mount is a ground mount.
The beta files (build 1.60.1) have a new Riding skill line with Apprentice Riding at rank 1 and Journeyman Riding at rank 150, Burning Crusade-style ranks, and a separate Galestrider Riding line for the Skyborne mounts. Blizzard also says the Cerulean Prideclaw of the Skyborne Heroic Pack needs the riding skill bought in game.
At what level can you ride in WoW Forever, and how much does it cost?
As of October 25, 2026, Blizzard has not published the riding levels or training costs of WoW Forever, and the beta game data holds no price either. Developers said riding "is going to cost more gold than before" and that there is "no free mount training at 40" (Kotaku and IGN, via MassivelyOP). Icy Veins reads levels 40 and 60 in the beta mount data. Method.gg gives prices without a source.

Which new mounts are announced for WoW Forever?
Blizzard has announced five sources of new mounts in WoW Forever: the Cerulean Prideclaw with the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion with the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Reins of the Spectral Bear as a Legacy reward, mounts at PvP rank 11, and a level 60 epic mount quest for Forsaken Paladins, "in the name of Retribution". Blizzard Support says the pack items will be available at launch.
| Mount | How to get it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cerulean Prideclaw | Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher; needs the riding skill | Blizzard |
| Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion | Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection | Blizzard Support |
| Reins of the Spectral Bear | Legacy reward | Blizzard |
| PvP rank 11 mounts | Reach rank 11 with Rank Points | Blizzard |
| Forsaken Paladin epic mount | Level 60 class quest for Undead Paladins | Blizzard |
Icy Veins reports that the BlizzCon lore panel also showed a level 40 and a level 60 Forsaken Paladin mount, and the beta files name the epic one Summon Forsaken Charger. PvP ranks and their rewards are in our PvP guide, Legacy rewards in our Legacy guide, and the packs in our Skyborne guide.
Do Skyborne have their own mounts in WoW Forever?
In the beta game files, yes: WoW Forever's Skyborne have a mount family called Galestriders, in four colors (Empyrean, Regal, Stormy, Umber), each with a swift version, and their own riding skill, Galestrider Riding. Icy Veins reads unarmored Galestriders at 60% speed from level 40 and armored ones at 100% from level 60. Blizzard has not announced how to get them.
| Color | Normal | Swift |
|---|---|---|
| Empyrean | Empyrean Galestrider | Swift Empyrean Galestrider |
| Regal | Regal Galestrider | Swift Regal Galestrider |
| Stormy | Stormy Galestrider | Swift Stormy Galestrider |
| Umber | Umber Galestrider | Swift Umber Galestrider |
The mount of the Skyborne Heroic Pack is the Cerulean Prideclaw. The beta files also hold three more Prideclaw colors under placeholder names (purple, brown, and white and blue), which are not announced.
Which mounts are only in the WoW Forever beta files?
The WoW Forever beta files (build 1.60.1) list more new mounts than Blizzard has announced, including the Swift Hyjal Stag, the Striped Dawnsaber, four Warden Sabers, five Devilsaurs, four Druid Moose, new kodos and skeletal horses. Icy Veins counts 56 brand-new mount models and 3 fully encrypted mounts. The data gives most of them no price, level or source: treat them as possible, not as coming.
- Hyjal: Swift Hyjal Stag.
- Sabers: Striped Dawnsaber; Warden Saber in black, brown, gray and white.
- Devilsaurs: black, blue, green, purple and white.
- Druid Moose: black, white, green and gray.
- Kodos: White Kodo, Lavender Kodo, Caravan Kodo and Pack Kodo.
- Skeletal horses: Ochre Skeletal Warhorse, and green, dark, purple and black Skeletal Horses.
- Added in build 1.60.1.70532 (October 21, 2026): Verdant Sea Turtle, Crimson Rooster and Spectral Wolf Pack, epic, level 60 and a 200 gold price in the files; the seller is not named.
One of them was seen as a reward on the beta: Mamytwink's guide to Durotar Supply and Logistics (October 5, 2026) lists the Pack Kodo at Exalted for 6,000 Merchant's Favor, with level 60 and Journeyman Riding required. Mamytwink's Alliance guide shows the same kodo, probably a copy error, so the Alliance reward is unclear.
Build 1.60.1.70532, the last beta build and also the Forever client, adds three companion pets too, Pinky, Blossoming Ancient ("This pet changes with the seasons") and Gill'el, plus an Adventurer's Tent sold for 200 gold that gives your next Camp Tent its look for 15 minutes. The files don't say where any of them comes from. On October 16, 2026, Kaivax wrote that recently datamined art assets "are not intended for this version of World of Warcraft", without naming them.
How can you ride faster in WoW Forever?
Three mount speed bonuses are known for WoW Forever, all seen on the beta. The tauren racial Plainsrunning adds 3% mounted speed since the October 15 beta notes. Mister Graphed, a goblin vendor in Riverglades, sells the Gift of Galloping: +10% mounted speed for 15 days, for 150 gold, at level 60 (PC Gamer, Mamytwink). The Wintersaber Hide Lined Gloves, a rare-creature drop, give +6% mount speed in Winterspring (Method.gg).
Plainsrunning's 3% stacks with other mounted speed bonuses, and the racial now needs you to keep moving a minimum distance per second (beta notes, October 15, 2026). Beta items and prices can change before launch on November 4, 2026, and no source says whether the riding speeds themselves change from Classic. The Windshaper Skyborne racial Skysight adds 10% run speed, according to Blizzard: see our Skyborne guide. Riverglades and its black market are in our zones guide.
Do your old mounts carry over to WoW Forever?
Probably not. Blizzard Customer Support wrote that mounts and pets not explicitly labelled for WoW Forever are "unlikely" to be available there, as Forever "isn't considered to strictly be 'Classic'". Inside WoW Forever, collections are account-wide according to Blizzard, and the developers said the collections window only shows what you already own (JackedIQ interview, via JudgeHype).
The pack mounts are labelled for Forever: Blizzard Support lists the Cerulean Prideclaw (Heroic Pack) and the Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion (Epic Pack) among the Forever items, and "Items in Forever will be available at launch". No source mentions moving characters from Classic Era or modern WoW to WoW Forever.
