Getting started on WoW Forever: the UI tools already built into the game
Yuki5 min read
In short
Forever runs on the modern World of Warcraft client, so many tools that needed an addon on Classic are already in the game. On the beta (October 2026) we found click casting, raid frames that show dispellable debuffs, item comparison, an equipment manager, “sell junk” and “repair” buttons at merchants, Edit Mode to move and resize the interface, and a windowed or maximized world map.
Key points
- Forever is not the 2019 Classic client: it uses the modern interface, with Edit Mode.
- Click casting and dispellable debuffs on raid frames are built in: no healing addon needed for that.
- The minimap goes from 50 to 200 % in Edit Mode; the world map can be windowed or maximized.
- In some fights the game hides exact health values and chat text from addons: addons must be written for it.
- Lua errors are hidden by default: /console scriptErrors 1 shows them.
Why is Forever not a Classic like the others?
Forever is not a Classic like the others because this Classic+ experience runs on the modern World of Warcraft client, the same family as the current expansion, not on the 2019 Classic client. Its interface, options and addon system are the modern ones. Two consequences: many comfort features are already built in, and addons written for older Classic clients often don't work on Forever.
In practice, two things change for you. First, a lot of comfort features are already in the game, so you can skip the addons that only added them. Second, addons written for older Classic clients often don't work: they must be written for this client.
The modern client also protects some values from addons. During certain fights, an addon can't read your exact health or the text of the chat. Well-written addons handle it.
How do I move and resize the interface on Forever?
On Forever, you move and resize the interface with Edit Mode, already built in on the beta (October 2026). Edit Mode handles the main frames: action bars, player frame, minimap and more. The minimap, for example, goes from 50 to 200 % of its size there.

Do I need a healing addon on Forever?
On Forever, healers don't need an addon for click casting or dispellable debuffs: both were built in on the beta (October 2026). You bind a spell to a mouse button and cast it by clicking a party or raid member, and raid frames show the debuffs you can dispel. The game does not show the five-second rule or the time before you run out of mana.

What the game does not show is the five-second rule and the time before you run out of mana. Our guide to the five-second rule explains how it works.
Which gear tools are built into Forever?
On the Forever beta (October 2026), item comparison, an equipment manager and merchant buttons were already built into the game. The tooltip compares an item with what you wear, the equipment manager saves outfits and switches them with one click, and merchants offer buttons to sell all gray items and repair everything.

How do the world map and minimap work on Forever?
On the Forever beta (October 2026), the world map (M) opens windowed or maximized, can fade while you walk, and shows quests with the quest log beside it. The minimap zooms with the mouse wheel and can show your coordinates. What's missing is moving the world map where you want.

Built in or addon: the summary
Many tools that needed an addon on Classic are built into Forever: on the beta (October 2026), click casting, dispellable debuffs on raid frames, a 50 to 200 % minimap in Edit Mode, a windowed or maximized world map and the equipment manager were all there. What it lacks: the five-second rule, a minimap beyond 200 %, a world map you can drag and bags you can move.

Frequently asked questions
Do Classic Era addons work on Forever?
Often not. Forever uses the modern game client, so addons must be written or updated for it. Check that an addon lists Forever or the current interface version before installing it.
Is click casting really built in?
Yes. On the Forever beta, spells can be bound to mouse buttons and cast by clicking party or raid frames, without any addon.
How big can the minimap get?
From 50 to 200 % in Edit Mode.
How do I show Lua errors?
Type /console scriptErrors 1 in the chat. Type /console scriptErrors 0 to hide them again.
Does WoW Forever have a built-in damage meter?
Yes. The interface code of the Forever beta client (build 1.60.1) loads Blizzard's damage meter and cooldown viewer for Forever (Blizzard_DamageMeter and Blizzard_CooldownViewer). Blizzard can still change this before launch. The Cooldown Manager is off by default: turn it on in Options, Gameplay Enhancement (beta notes of September 24, 2026).
Will these features stay at launch on November 4?
They were observed on the beta in October 2026. Blizzard can change things before launch; this guide will be updated if anything moves.
