Is WoW Forever free? Price in euros and dollars, subscription and packs

Is WoW Forever free to play?

No. WoW Forever is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or game time, Blizzard says, so you pay nothing on top of World of Warcraft, but you need an active subscription to play. Blizzard Customer Support confirmed on September 18, 2026 that "any subscription option will work": 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, or game time from a WoW Token bought with gold in modern WoW.

The same subscription also gives modern WoW and Classic: Forever is a third World of Warcraft, not a separate game to buy. Blizzard has not published a Forever-specific subscription price, and the price of a subscription in your country is on the Battle.net shop.

Blizzard's 12-month subscription offer of October 15, 2026 adds items that only work in Forever: two appearances, the Tabard of Eternal Exploration and the Eternal Explorer's Backpack, and a pet, Azurky. The 6-month offer lists a Forever bonus item not named yet. The bonuses arrive by October 31, 2026 and must be redeemed by April 30, 2027; the page shows no prices.

How much do the WoW Forever packs cost?

Three optional packs, with prices reported by the press because the Battle.net shop needs a login to show them: the Skyborne Heroic Pack at €29.99 ($29.99), the Skyborne Epic Pack at €59.99 ($59.99) and the Warcraft Forever Collection at €79.99 ($79.99). Euro prices were reported by Mamytwink from the European shop on September 12, 2026, dollar prices by MassivelyOP.

Do you need a pack to play WoW Forever?

No. With a subscription you play all of WoW Forever without a pack: every zone, dungeon, raid and class. In the game itself, only the Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting quests need a pack, the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher, Blizzard's official page says. The rest of the packs is early name reservation, cosmetics, beta access, game time and Invite-A-Friend codes.

• 30 days of game time: included with the Epic Pack and the Collection, it starts on November 4, 2026, Blizzard Support says; a physical Collector's Edition code starts when you redeem it.
• Name reservation: from October 27 to November 3, 2026, with any pack; details in our name reservation guide.
• Housing decor: it "can only be used within Housing in Modern WoW", which requires Midnight, Blizzard notes.

Can you play WoW Forever for free?

Only in a limited way, as of October 25, 2026: Blizzard has announced no free trial for WoW Forever. The free stress test, open to anyone for a few hours, took place on October 21 and is over. What remains is a friend who owns a pack: an Invite-A-Friend launch code lets you play from November 4 to 11, 2026 without a subscription, but without the Skyborne race.

• Invite-A-Friend codes: 1 with the Heroic Pack, 3 with the Epic Pack or the Collection, emailed from October 20. They cannot be redeemed on an account that bought a Forever pack, and give no beta access.
• The stress test of October 21: "no subscription, Game Time, invitation, or beta access" was required, and every character was wiped afterwards; see our Server Slam guide. The beta itself closed on October 23.

Is there a WoW Token or a cash shop inside WoW Forever?

No WoW Token is planned inside WoW Forever, the developers said at BlizzCon according to MassivelyOP (September 14, 2026), and Mamytwink reported no paid boost or catch-up, in the shop or elsewhere. The only token link is outside the game: game time bought with a WoW Token in modern WoW pays the subscription that includes Forever. Buying gold with real money gets accounts sanctioned.
