Do Classic addons work on WoW Forever?
Not always. WoW Forever runs on the modern game client, so an addon needs a version written or updated for Forever: Classic Era versions often fail with Lua errors. Which addons don't you need on WoW Forever?
WoW Forever already ships several tools that needed addons in Classic: a damage meter and a cooldown viewer in the game's interface code, click casting on party and raid frames, raid frames that show debuffs to dispel, and Edit Mode to move the interface. A damage meter addon such as Details! is optional, not required.

Start from what the game doesn't do: check the built-in tools first, then add one addon per need rather than several that overlap, for example one bag addon and one auction house addon. Prefer addons that list a Forever version updated recently, and keep the Lua error display on for the first days to spot an addon that breaks after a game update.
