Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever: Waylaid Crates, Craftsman's Writs and rewards, priced in gold

Yuki11 min read

In short

Merchant's Favor is the currency of WoW Forever's two trade factions, the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) and Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde). You earn it by filling Waylaid Crates, which drop from level 10: 5 to 30 favor a crate on the beta. It buys recipes, account-wide profession titles (1,000), a pet, a toy and the Pack Kodo mount (6,000). On the beta auction house, the cheapest bundles cost under 1 silver per favor.

Key points

  • Merchant's Favor is paid by the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) and Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde), the two trade factions Blizzard added.
  • Waylaid Crates drop from level 10: you fill one with a single bundle of materials and hand in the sealed crate for 5 to 30 favor (beta).
  • Reputation comes from Craftsman's Writs (75, 125 or 200), the first-crate Shipping Label quest (2,000) and forged delivery receipts, not from crates.
  • The cheapest bundles cost 43 to 61 copper per favor on the beta auction house, and many empty crates sold for more than their contents.
  • Rewards: recipes from 30 favor, account-wide titles at 1,000, a toy at 1,200, a pet at 1,500 and the Pack Kodo at 6,000.

What is Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever?

Merchant's Favor is a WoW Forever currency paid by two trade factions that Blizzard calls a major source of new tradeskill activities: the Azeroth Commerce Authority for the Alliance and Durotar Supply and Logistics for the Horde. The beta game files describe it as worth a considerable amount of gold and set no maximum. You spend it at the faction camps on recipes, titles, a pet, a toy and a mount.

Both factions already existed in Season of Discovery and were updated for Forever, according to Mamytwink, and the beta game files reuse their old IDs. Blizzard's Legacy perk Performance bonus raises the favor they pay. According to Zockify, favor belongs to each character, not to the account. Everything below was seen on the beta, capped at level 30, and may change at launch on November 4, 2026.

How do you get Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever?

In WoW Forever you earn Merchant's Favor with Waylaid Crates. They drop at random from level 10, and you fill each one with a single bundle of materials, such as 20 Silverleaf, to get a sealed crate. Hand it in at your faction's camp: on the beta, a crate of raw materials gave 5, 10 or 15 favor by rank, and a crate of crafted goods 10, 20 or 30.

  • The first crate starts the Shipping Label quest, once: 50 favor and 2,000 reputation.
  • Performance bonus, a perk of the Legacy Professions tree, gives a 5, 10 or 15% chance by rank to double the favor of a crate.
  • In the game files (build 1.60.1): 30 kinds of Waylaid Crate and 15 sealed crates (five ranks, apprentice to elite, in three qualities). Waylaid Crates are not bound, so they can be traded and sold; sealed crates are soulbound.
  • A beta bug: crates did not work when the required quantity was larger than one stack of the item. Blizzard listed it on September 17, 2026, as fixed in the next beta build.

Favor amounts come from Mamytwink's guides (October 5 and 7, 2026) for apprentice and journeyman crates and from wow-professions.com for expert crates; Blizzard has not published them.

What does it cost to fill each Waylaid Crate in WoW Forever?

Each Waylaid Crate in WoW Forever accepts one bundle from a short list. At beta auction house prices of October 15, 2026, the cheapest bundles cost under 1 silver per favor: 2 Cured Light Hide filled an apprentice fabrics crate (10 favor) for 4 silver 30, and 20 Silverleaf an apprentice herbs crate (5 favor) for 2 silver 60. Ore and curiosities crates cost far more per favor.

The bundle lists come from wow-professions.com (beta), and their quantities match the Stock Crate spells in the beta game files (build 1.60.1). The prices are one player's scan of a beta realm capped at level 30, so expert materials were rare and expensive. The other expert crates and all artisan crates had too few listings to price. Live prices: auction house prices, for example Silverleaf or Cured Light Hide.

Should you fill a Waylaid Crate or sell it in WoW Forever?

On the WoW Forever beta, many empty Waylaid Crates sold for more than the materials needed to fill them: an apprentice herbs crate sold for 20 silver 43 on October 15, 2026, while its cheapest bundle cost 2 silver 60 for 5 favor. Fill the crates whose bundle you gather cheaply and list the others at the auction house. Buying crates to fill them costs far more per favor.

The last two rows show the other side: crates whose bundle is expensive sold for a few copper, because nobody wanted to fill them. They are the cheapest crates to use with a Forged Delivery Receipt, for reputation (next section). Our gold guide puts crates among the other sources of gold, level by level.

How do Craftsman's Writs and reputation work in WoW Forever?

In WoW Forever, reputation with the trade factions does not come from crates. It comes from Craftsman's Writs, crafting orders that drop from level 10 or sell at the auction house: deliver the requested item to the customer for 75, 125 or 200 reputation by rank. The first-crate Shipping Label quest gives 2,000 reputation, and a Forged Delivery Receipt turns an empty crate into 50.

  • Craftsman's Writs: the beta game files hold 150 of them, and sealed writs of four ranks (apprentice to artisan) that open into one. Reputation: 75 (journeyman), 125 (expert), 200 (artisan). Mamytwink reads the limit as one writ of each rank per day, wow-professions.com as once a day per writ.
  • No profession needed: you deliver the requested item, crafted or bought. A writ pays reputation and a pouch with some silver, but no Merchant's Favor, according to wow-professions.com.
  • Forged Delivery Receipt: 15 favor at Friendly, from a forger near the camp (Kurvelk Shadowhoof for the Horde, Dianne Softstep for the Alliance). It turns any empty Waylaid Crate into a Notarized Shipping Container, worth 50 reputation and 1 silver.
  • Forger's Quill: 15 favor at Honored, from the same forger. It rerolls a writ into another of the same rank.

On the beta auction house (October 15, 2026), writs sold from 15 silver to 5 gold 50, most around 1 to 2 gold, with few sales a day; a Sealed Journeyman's Writ sold for 59 silver and a Sealed Expert's Writ for 1 gold 50.

What can you buy with Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever?

With Merchant's Favor, WoW Forever's trade factions sell profession recipes from 30 favor, account-wide profession titles at 1,000 favor each, a toy at 1,200, a pet at 1,500, a tabard at 200 and the Pack Kodo mount at 6,000, which also needs Exalted, level 60 and Journeyman Riding. Prices and reputation ranks come from beta guides of October 2026 and may change at launch.

The six certifications and the toy, pet, tabard and mount items are all in the beta game files. Cooking smoothies sold at the camps give 5% more experience from kills, and three rotating helpers change each day, such as an auctioneer or access to your bank, according to Mamytwink. How much gold is a Pack Kodo or a title worth in Merchant's Favor?

At WoW Forever beta prices of October 15, 2026, a favor point cost between 43 copper and about 13 silver of materials, depending on the crate, with a median near 2 silver. That puts a profession title (1,000 favor) between about 4 and 20 gold of materials, and the Pack Kodo (6,000 favor) between about 26 and 120 gold, crates not counted. Crate drops, not gold, are the real limit.

Is Merchant's Favor worth it in WoW Forever?

Merchant's Favor is worth it in WoW Forever if you gather or craft anyway: fill the crates whose bundle you already have, sell the others at the auction house, and do the writs for reputation. It is not worth buying crates to fill them. Titles are account-wide, so one character earns them for all, while the Pack Kodo needs level 60, Journeyman Riding and Exalted.

  • Gatherers: herbalists fill the cheapest raw crates (20 Silverleaf for 5 favor on the beta) and sell the ore and curiosities crates they cannot fill cheaply.
  • Crafters: fabrics, ingots and parts crates pay double favor, and leatherworkers make the cheapest bundle of all, 2 Cured Light Hide for 10 favor.
  • Everyone: fill a first crate early, because the Shipping Label quest gives 2,000 reputation and 50 favor once.
  • Check prices first: our prices page has a page per item. What changed in professions is in our professions guide.
