What are the Tauren racials in WoW Forever?

Tauren have four racial traits in WoW Forever, two active and two passive: War Stomp and Cultivation, which you activate, and Plainsrunning and Endurance, always on. Compared with Classic Era: 1 new and 3 changed. The texts and numbers below come from the game files of the Forever beta (build 1.60.1.70532), the old ones from Classic Era 1.15.9.70003.

  • War Stomp

    Changed

Active, 0.5 sec cast, 1.5 min cooldown

Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yds for 2 sec.

New cooldown (Classic Era: 2 min)

In Classic Era: Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yds for 2 sec.

In practice: A short area stun around you; Blizzard says it works in druid forms.

  • Cultivation

    Changed

    Active, instant

Cultivate a nearby herb, growing a duplicate you can harvest without requiring Herbalism skill. Each herb may only be cultivated once.

Now an active trait. New values

In Classic Era: Herbalism skill increased by 15.

In practice: Grows a second herb that you can pick without Herbalism; Blizzard's beta notes tie each herb to a character level.

  • Plainsrunning

    New

    Passive

Gain 1% increased movement speed every 5 sec spent moving, up to a maximum of 30% increase. Taking damage or standing still will reduce this effect. In addition, you move 3% faster while mounted.

In practice: Speed that builds up while you keep moving, plus a little on a mount: handy while leveling and traveling, less in fights, since damage reduces it.

  • Endurance

    Changed

    Passive

Total Health increased by 5% and critical strike bonus to damage and healing increased by 2%.

    New values

In Classic Era: Total Health increased by 5%.

In practice: More maximum health, and now bigger critical strikes for damage and healing, for every role.

What changed for tauren since Classic?

Tauren lose Nature Resistance and gain Plainsrunning, a passive that raises movement speed by 1% every 5 seconds spent moving, up to 30%, and by 3% on a mount. Cultivation is no longer +15 Herbalism skill: it became an active trait that grows a second herb anyone can gather without Herbalism. Endurance adds 2% to the critical strike bonus of damage and healing to its 5% health, and War Stomp's cooldown drops from 2 minutes to 90 seconds.

Removed since Classic Era

  • Nature Resistance

    Nature Resistance increased by 10.

What Blizzard said

  • Beta notes of September 24: Cultivation asks for a character level equal to the herb's skill requirement divided by 5, so herbs above 300 skill need level 60.
  • Blizzard's druid deep dive: racials work in druid forms, War Stomp included.

Which classes can tauren play in WoW Forever?

Tauren can play four of the nine classes in WoW Forever: warrior, hunter, shaman and druid. These are the same classes as in Classic Era. Each class links to its page and to its talent calculator, with the talent trees of the Forever beta.

Where do tauren start in WoW Forever?

Tauren start in Mulgore, as in Classic: Blizzard keeps the original starting zones and adds new characters, quests, profession hooks and recipes to them. The Group Finder of the beta lists it for levels 1 to 14. Our leveling tool then shows which zones and dungeons fit each level.
