Warrior

The warrior fights in three stances (Battle, Defensive, Berserker) and turns every hit into rage. A natural tank and a fearsome damage dealer once well equipped, but it depends on its gear and on healers more than any other class.

What changes for the warrior in WoW Forever?

The warrior in WoW Forever gets a reworked Rage system: Rage from damage taken uses a fixed armor value and ignores absorbs, and critical hits give extra Rage. Victory Rush arrives at level 20 and Tactical Mastery at 14, the weapon specializations merge into Weaponmaster, and each tree gets a new 16-point talent, including Vanguard for Charge in Defensive Stance.

  • Rage from damage taken is calculated on a fixed armor value instead of your real armor (rebalanced to 20 to 40% armor in the October 8 beta notes), and absorbs such as Power Word: Shield no longer reduce it.
  • Rage from damage dealt is normalized on weapon speed, and critical hits give +100% Rage in the October 1 beta notes (+75% in Blizzard's September 30 article).
  • Victory Rush is learned at level 20: after a kill, it heals 10% of your maximum health, on a 30-second cooldown.
  • Tactical Mastery is learned at level 14 and keeps 10 Rage when you change stance; Improved Tactical Mastery (Arms) adds 3 Rage per point, up to 25.
  • 16-point talents: Spearing Strike (Arms, double damage on mounted targets, Dragons and Giants, Battle Stance required on the beta), Raging Blows (Fury, Whirlwind hits with both weapons) and Vanguard (Protection, Charge in Defensive Stance), all compared in our talents guide.
  • Weaponmaster (Arms) merges the old weapon specializations: axes and polearms give crit, maces and staves ignore armor, swords give extra attacks.
  • Protection talents: Master of Defense gives a chance of 5 Rage when you dodge or parry with a shield, and Focused Rage makes offensive abilities cheaper.
  • Fury was reworked in the October 1 beta notes: Lingering Rage, Furious Precision and Gore Drinker are new, while Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage are removed.
