What changes for the shaman in WoW Forever?

The shaman in WoW Forever gets a modern totem kit: a 1-second global cooldown, 5-minute buff totems, a totem bar with timers and presets that drop four totems at once from level 20. Weapon imbues last 60 minutes, Elemental gains Lava Burst, Enhancement can serve as a temporary tank in small groups, and dwarves can now be shamans.

  • Totems use a 1-second global cooldown, persistent buff totems last 5 minutes instead of 2, and resistance totems cover the whole raid.
  • Totem bar: a tracking interface shows each totem's timer, and a right-click removes it.
  • Call of the Elements (level 20), Call of the Spirits (30) and Call of the Ancestors (40) summon four preset totems after a 3-second cast.
  • Totemic Recall (level 20) recalls your totems with a 25% refund (no refund yet on the beta, a known bug), and Totemic Projection (level 22) teleports your totems (30-yard range, 1-minute cooldown).
  • Weapon imbues last 60 minutes instead of 5 and stack with sharpening stones, weightstones and wizard oil.
  • Windfury Totem and Flametongue Totem become party buffs instead of weapon enchants, and Fire Nova becomes a spell that erupts from your Fire totem.
  • Lava Burst (Elemental): 2.5-second cast, 10-second cooldown, at 31 points in Blizzard's article and 21 in beta build 70532, which also brings back a reworked Elemental Mastery at 31 points, removed on October 7 because Blizzard could not raise Elemental damage enough in PvE while keeping it.
  • Stormstrike moves down to 16 points with an 8-second cooldown (it was 20), and Rage of the Farseer (31 points) gives +30% attack speed for 25 seconds.
  • Spirit Weapons (Enhancement, 21 points) raises threat with Rockbiter so Enhancement can serve as a temporary tank in small groups; no shaman tank spec is announced.
  • Riptide (Restoration, 31 points) and Water Shield (11 points) join the healing kit, and shamans get healer, melee and caster PvP sets.

Questions about the Shaman in WoW Forever

Can shamans tank in WoW Forever?

Not as a tank spec. With Spirit Weapons and Rockbiter, Enhancement can serve as a temporary tank in small groups, according to Blizzard.

Do shamans still drop totems one by one in WoW Forever?

No. From level 20, Call of the Elements summons four preset totems after a 3-second cast, and two more presets come at levels 30 and 40.

Can an Alliance character be a shaman in WoW Forever?

Yes. Dwarves can now be shamans, the only Alliance race with the class.
